Supported by the Norwegian Embassy, Jonathan & Georgina Aasgaard showcase their incredible talent.
The Chester Summer Music Festival is an annual classical music festival held in the beautiful, historic city of Chester. The Festival’s signature theme celebrates the voice and music written for the voice.
The two week-long festival in early July is programmed by our wonderful Artistic Director Andrew Cornall. Andrew, who is also the President of EMI Classics, this year, programmes his fifth festival. The 2012 programme will deliver a truly international festival with an exciting range of music, ideas, and extraordinary talent. As a Festival of the Voice, we have wonderful singers and choral groups including our own Festival Chorus performing across a wide spectrum of music. But we’ll also showcase the explosion of talent from the Far East; we’ll revel in the music of the Great Romantics; we’ll showcase masters of their art in a wide range of musical genres. We’ll even have a festival within a festival: Let’s hear it! brings you a weekend of non-stop music designed for music lovers, casual listeners, the young, the old and the curious, from the bite-size to the full-length concert. It’s a total immersion for the musical spirits, a gourmet experience for the musical taste buds, and it is all served up in the glorious historic city of Chester!
Plus THE BIG SING! is back once again and is even bigger and better for 2012! Over 1,000 voices will be bringing Chester alive with song over the first weekend of the Chester Summer Music Festival. If you’d like more information or would like your choir to participate, email Kate, the Festival Manager on k.sawallisch@chesterfestivals.co.uk or find her telephone number on the ‘Contact Us’ page.
We look forward to welcoming you to the 2012 Chester Summer Music Festival. It is guaranteed to be another truly fantastic two weeks of musical entertainment. As Andrew often says: “Chester, summertime and great music-making in beautifully unique surroundings: there’s no better way to spend your time!”
