Music Festival
With a wealth of superb concert artists at our finger tips we are always keen to utilise the talent that comes to the Chester Summer Music Festival. The Festival works in partnership with artists keen to run workshops and deliver other educational opportunities. Educational activity happens both before and during the festival. Here are a few examples of the kind of educational work the Music Festival has offered in the past… Manchester Camerata led a series of workshops in a local primary school in the weeks leading up to the Festival and then performed their work at a pre-concert performance within the Festival. John Harle ran a saxophonist Masterclass. Graham Fitkin ran a Composition workshop. Joanna Lander, a professional Music Therapist went into a local special needs school to run a series of Music Therapy sessions for 6th Form students with profound and severe learning disabilities. Most recently the Festival worked in Partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council to deliver a Violin Open Day, a fun and interactive day for local young violin students, where workshops explored a number of learning techniques such as Dalcroze and Suzuki.
